About

Daniel Baas is a filmmaker and photographer based in Grand Rapids, MI. He currently serves as Director of Video at Woodlawn Christian Reformed Church and works as a Creative Production Manager at the Acton Institute. He graduated from Calvin University with a BA in Media Production as well as an MA in Media and Strategic Communication.

During his time at Calvin, Daniel worked on a number of documentaries and short films. In the summer of 2015, he received a McGregor Fellowship in documentary filmmaking. This included work editing Shipping Home, which has been screened in film festivals around the country, as well as production and post-production work on Luminous, a documentary released in 2021. He also did extensive work on iWish, a short film that went on to be an official selection at the 2017 Made in Michigan film festival.

Daniel has served as director and technical director for Calvin University football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer games, as well as for The January Series. Daniel's clients have included Calvin University, Calvin Video Production, The Calvin Symposium on Worship, The Michigan Department of Corrections, Calvin Prison Initiative, The NCAA, The Acton Institute, Epic Motion, Bradley Productions, and Westwinds Community Church.

In his free time, he loves photography, golfing, and watching a lot of football.
